6 Painless Ways To Declutter And Organize Your Desk Space

It doesn't matter whether you're still a student or an employee, the point is -- a tidy and well-organized workspace will surely increase creativity and productivity.

We may not even realize it but sometimes, our productivity depends on what is on our sight. Got a picturesque view outside from your desk? That should get your creative juices flowing. Got a messy and piled up paperworks on the other hand? Well, that's a different case.

Hide the cords. You know how irritating and annoying it is seeing your electrical cords? Keep them out of sight. A neat desk with a bunch of tangled cords will definitely make anyone cringe. Make your office desk appear as it is and keep the cords at bay by organizing them and hide them under a box disguised as storage. You could also use velcro to keep the loose cords wrapped and organized.

Get rid of useless items. Why on earth would you need 12 pieces of pencil and pen? Unless you're an illustrator or sketch artist, you need to hand it down to your toddler niece. Run an inventory of your work space items and simply toss the things you don't use. May it be office supplies, decorations or furnitures, let go of those you haven't really used in months. If it's only getting covered by dust, it's probably best to put it at rest.

Use storage boxes. Storage boxes that does not seem too bulky and less functional. Trade your ordinary office cabinets or bookshelves with multifunctional ones; the ones that could double as a foot rest or whichever as long as it serves form and function.

Brighten up your work area. Ditch the black wallpaper cover on your office divider and replace it with a plain and neutral colored wallpaper. Or perhaps you might want to use it to place photos and/or repurpose it as an inspiration wall. A bright work area makes it easier to see unwanted messy spots hence, makes it easier to keep clean.

Designate a drawer or storage for your 'pocket' stuff. 'Pocket' stuff are those suchlike your phone, keys, wallet, earphones, flash drive and so on. No more forgetting where you left your keys and rumbling your desk looking for it. Set a specific storage spot for these items; it could be a separate organizer in your office drawer. You decide.

Clean every morning or before you head home. No matter how much cleaning and organizing you do, you will always find yourself in a mess at the end of the day.

Having your desk organized and tidy makes your life and tasks less messed up and let you work more productively, if you haven't noticed still.
